The fourth and last installment of my animal stories!
Mohan the White Tigress
Based On a True Story
By Kyla Taylor
Once again, my father is on a hunting trip.
Before you start making judgments, you have to know something about him. First, he’s a hunting-o-matic. Every month he has to go away on a hunting trip with all of his friends, leaving me in charge of myself and my little brother. I wouldn’t mind if he did it every few months, but this is getting ridiculous, if I must say so myself. Also, I would like it if he would actually catch or at least find something once in a while. He always comes home empty-handed, and our food supply is running low.
Oh, if only mother were here. She would straighten things out.
Anyway, like I told you, my father is on another hunting trip. I’m really hoping to get a little meat in my stomach. The village we live in is growing weak from not getting enough protein in their bodies. Over the past few months, I have seen many die. I am thinking that for sure there is no hope.
But then the letter arrived.
One morning, I got a letter from my father. It was odd to get a letter from him, but I unfolded it and read it nevertheless. This is what it said:
My Dear Anita,
I have great news! The hunters and I have finally found something! We were walking through the forest when we came across a tiger. We were about to shoot when I saw that the tiger was white.
It was actually the tiger who helped us. It was about to pounce on a few deer, and automatically the hunters and I raced to get to them first. We got all four! Tomorrow, when I get home, we feast!
I am dearly sorry that it took me so long to realize that you were aggravated with me. So now I am promising that I won’t go on a hunting trip for ten months. I am going to stay home with you and your brother, and help tend to the farm. And once the ten months are up, I might even take you two out there with me!
I am giving this letter to a messenger from our group, hoping he will get this to you faster than I can. You can ask him any question you want, for he is probably still waiting. He saw it all.
For fear of this letter getting too lengthy, I am afraid that I must say goodbye. I love you, and I hope to see you soon!
Lots of love,
Father
The first thing I asked the messenger (who was quite handsome, I must say) was, “Was that all true?”
“Yes,” he answered.
“Did you name the tigress?” I inquired curiously.
Before answering my question, the messenger asked if he could sit, for he was tired from his journey. Of course, I gestured to a chair in the middle of my family’s hut.
“Yes, I did.” he began. “And all of the other hunters agreed with me. We decided on Mohan.”
I had no idea what “Mohan” meant, and why he named the tigress that. But it sounded beautiful, nonetheless.
I couldn’t wait for my father to come home.
My father kept his promise, as usual.
The day he returned, we feasted, and spoke about Mohan. My father described her to me. He said she had “eyes as blue as the Arabian Sea ” and “fur so white, it was blinding.” I hope I will remember those words for many years in the future.
My father also told me things he had left out in the letter. He said that as soon as the hunters fired their arrows, the tigers vanished. Half of the hunters kept searching for them, while the rest returned home with what they caught. I was glad my father hadn’t stayed in the forest.
The third installment of my animal stories!
No Ordinary Cubs
Based On a True Story
By Kyla Taylor
At first glance, my brother and I would seem like ordinary white tiger cubs. That would be a complete understatement. In fact, I’ve decided to tell you our story just to prove it.
Of course, I have to start at the very beginning. If I didn’t, none of this story would make sense. No, I am NOT talking about when we were born! I’m going to skip to the part where it gets interesting. And a bit sad, I must say.
My brother and I started out ordinary. We wrestled each other every day and helped our mother catch dinner. Also, we had friends. Many of them, too. As two siblings, my brother and I did not fight much, but occasionally a fight would break out. Our mother loved us as much as possible, although she was always out doing something. Despite that factor, we fended for ourselves.
But then disaster struck.
Hurricane Hannah swept through our home, causing major devastation. It separated us from our friends, and our mother. We haven’t seen any of them since. There is no telling whether they were killed or stranded in the destruction of the storm. It was a horrible loss for my brother and me, but we could not take too long to grieve. We had to fend for ourselves until someone found us.
Luckily, just as we were tiring out, help came.
There was an animal rescue center called “T.I.G.E.R.S.” who came looking for us. After they’d looked through the wreckage of hurricane Hannah for days, they finally found us.
After the rescue squad brought us back to the shelter, Anjana, a kind-hearted chimp from T.I.G.E.R.S. helped us. She took us in after we lost our mother, becoming our surrogate mother. She acted as our playmate, babysitter, and even helped the zookeepers feed us!
Now, all three of us are doing just fine. Anjana still takes care of us, and she does her work well. I’m not kidding. She has actually done this before! She’s helped leopard and lion cubs on several occasions. Now that’s something you don’t see every day! I assure you, I am NOT making up this story!! [If you still don’t believe me, comment on this post. I have pictures to prove it!]
AUTHOR’S NOTE: Thank you for reading this story. I hope you enjoyed it very much, because I know I did! It is one of my favorite stories, and not because I wrote it in my own words. It teaches you that, no matter what culture, religion, or color you are, you can always be friends. You could even be different species or animals! I mean, look at what happened with the two white tiger cubs and Anjana!! Overall, it was a very heart-warming story about three animals that put aside their differences to help one another. If everyone in the world could do that, our lives would be perfect! But I guess that just wasn’t the way it was meant to be.
The second installment of my animal stories!
FINALLY!
Honey, I Shrunk the Porcupines!!!
There once was a porcupine named Phoenix . He lived happily in Sherwood Forest with his family, friends, and foes. Phoenix was “living the dream”; he had good friends, he was the most popular kid in school, he was kind of a geek, and yet he was at peace with everyone. Well, mostly everyone, except for humans, of course. Humans were every porcupine’s nightmare.
One day, Phoenix was sitting on his sofa in the shade across from his friends, Chester , Linda, and Jacob. The sofa was a large rock carved into a sofa shape and covered in soft, comfy moss (porcupines are very resourceful animals, and smart, too). The four friends were talking about typical teenage porcupine topics. You know, whose quills were the sharpest, who was the coolest kid in school, which teachers they wanted vaporized. “Why would you want Ms. Friday vaporized? She’s so nice!” said Linda, a girl who Chester had introduced to Phoenix only a few days ago. “I don’t think she is! C’mon, she makes us do Ah-ha Mom--” began Jacob.
He never finished.
BOOM! Suddenly, something shook the ground—close. A loud horn sounded from behind them. Every single one of them thought the same thing: H-U-M-A-N-S! Phoenix had been in human drills at school, but obviously, this was not school! Jacob and Chester screamed like little girls and ran, or at least crawled, as fast as they could to get to safety. Linda actually hurried toward the sound. She was one of those tough, athletic girls who thought they could do anything. Phoenix made a quick decision and followed Linda into the bushes.
The two, Phoenix and Linda, had secretly made a corridor through the large bushes. Nobody else knew about it or used it, so it was easy for Phoenix to follow Linda’s footprints. He finally got to the end of the corridor, and Linda was crawling confidently toward something that Phoenix couldn’t see. “Linda!” he shouted. Linda turned around to face him.
“Why are you here?” she inquired.
“You’re going to need someone to have your back.”
“Who’s gonna have you’re back?”
“I can have my own back!”
Linda couldn’t make a comeback to that. “Fine. I’m trying to find out what the humans are trying to do. I have an idea that—“ Like Jacob, she didn’t finish. A large steel trap closed around Phoenix , and a separate one captured Linda. One pair of hands closed around the handle of each cage. A needle was injected carefully into both their forepaws. After that, they saw nothing.
When Phoenix woke up, he was in a small, freezing room with odd, flashing lights on the walls and white tables everywhere. Phoenix ’s and Linda’s cages were set on one of these tables. They were surrounded by test tubes filled with colored liquid.
She was gone.
Not the kind of gone you’re thinking, like someone took her. She had just disappeared into thin air! Unfortunately, Mr. Jones had noticed, too. He was staring wide-eyed at Linda’s cage. Suddenly, Phoenix began to feel like he was inside a walnut. Either I’m shrinking or my cage is growing. He thought, Never mind. I’m totally shrinking. Mr. Jones rushed to Phoenix ’s cage to watch the process of Phoenix shrinking. Soon, Phoenix the porcupine was as small as a thimble.
Mr. Jones stepped back in awe and looked at Linda’s cage. Linda wasn’t gone after all. She was just as small as Phoenix ! “Honey!” shouted Mr. Jones, “I shrunk the porcupines!!”
Soon, Mrs. Jacquelyn Jones was back in the lab. And she was angrier than ever. “You think I’ll fall for a joke as dumb as that? Are you calling me stupid?” Then she looked over at the porcupine cages and instantly apologized. “Sorry. But how exactly did you shrink the animals this time?” she asked casually, like this had happened before. Mr. Edward Jones shrugged and sighed. “At least we can do one thing with them. Give them to Emma.” The couple took Linda and Phoenix out of their cages and let them crawl on their fingers.
The humans took the porcupines of the lab and up a staircase. At the top, the two knocked on the first door to the left. “It’s open!” shouted a female voice from inside. Mrs. Jones opened the door. Inside was a room painted sky blue. Two walls were covered by four white wooden bookcases filled with books. Another had the sliding doors of a closet and a tall mirror was leaning against the wall. The last wall had a large, square bed with bedspread that made the bed look like a giant book. It also had a desk with a green lamp, an “easy” button in the corner, and different-sized glasses of various colors of liquid. A girl who looked like she was twelve sat on the bed wearing a neon green elbow-length sweater and long flare jeans. Her fingernails were painted blue and she had long brown hair that she wore in a ponytail. Like her mother, she wore glasses and was skinny. She was reading a copy of The Secret Garden, which was in perfect condition, like it had just been bought. The overall effect the girl had on Phoenix was a creeped-out one. Phoenix knew that this was Emma Jones, daughter of Jacquelyn Jones and Edward Jones.
“What do you need, Mother?” said Emma politely, without looking up from her book.
“Emma, we have a surprise for you. We accidentally shrunk a couple of porcupines. Could you keep them safe in your room?”
Emma finally looked up. She put her bookmark in place, stood up, and walked over to her parents. “More small animals? Oh, the poor things!” she said as she took the two miniscule porcupines from her parents and set them on the deck, or at least tried to. Phoenix and Linda fell to the floor, bringing down with them a glass of green goo. When the porcupines hit the floor, the green goo oozed around them. They suddenly started growing until they were normal-sized again. “Oh, so now we know how to turn the animals back every time we shrink them!” exclaimed Mrs. Jones. Everyone laughed in relief.
A week later, Emma and her parents brought Linda and Phoenix back to Sherwood Forest . Emma said she loved that forest because it reminded her of the book “Robin Hood”. Phoenix and Linda were reunited with their friends and family and, like every good story should end, they all lived happily ever after.
Hope you liked it!

Okay,
so the hurricane is here in Maryland and I couldn't find my flash drive before we moved to our pastor's house so we would be safe from falling trees...I will have to find another flash drive and put my stories on it later. SIGH. I am bored even though there is a hurricane going on, I'm not scared at all. It's weird, I get scared over the smallest things, like ticks and bugs and falling and stuff, but I'm not afraid of a hurricane. My friend are okay, so I am too.
So stories will surge your way after I have settled after this horrible storm. If I move back into my house if it's okay, then they will come sooner than they would if my home is deliberated by a tree...
So, anyway, please comment and follow and pray and recommend this blog to your friends...I really need more followers, as you might've noticed :)

In which I get completely off topic.
I hope you like the first installment of my series of short stories that have nothing to do with each other whatsoever. All the characters are iguanas, so do not be confused if I call the kids iguanas. Well, at least its better than calling them dogs or something like a gym teacher who went to army school but got kicked out because he shot too many people named Will when the general said "Fire at will!" Oops, got waayyyyyy too off topic, much like a certain person I know........ Build-a-bear workshop does not just have bears....... JUST ENJOY!
An Iguana's Christmas Story
Adalynn’s life was not treating her the way that she wanted it to. People just didn’t get her. She was just another iguana who was creative, funny, and smart. But that was the word—smart. Everyone misinterpreted it, calling Adalynn a geek. If not for this small, unfortunate misjudgment, Adalynn would’ve had many more friends. Just to make it worse, Adalynn went to an extremely strict school, where there were more bullies than she could imagine.
While everyone was socializing, waiting for the bus, Adalynn walked over to Hunter and asked the iguana why he hadn’t stepped forward.
But there was one that stood out from the crowd of kids that made fun of Adalynn, though. His name was Hassan.
One day, Hassan, as usual, had detention. He was to scrub at the drawings that he’d made on the school’s courtyard walls until they were completely invisible. No sooner had he started scrubbing at the drawings than the school bell rang, signaling the end of the school day.
As Adalynn came out of the building and into the courtyard, she saw Hassan scrubbing the walls. She decided to go over to him and try to make at least one friend. Her mother had often told her that the best way to make a friend was to gradually start learning more about them, or helping them in times of need.
And from what Adalynn could tell, Hassan was definitely in need.
Adalynn quietly walked up to Hassan, and said, simply, “Hi! It’s Hassan, right?” As soon as she said this, Hassan jumped, frightened. “What was that for?! You scared the wits out of me!”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” began Adalynn, “and you didn’t answer my question. Your name is Hassan, right?”
“Yeah, what’s yours?”
“Adalynn. It’s nice to meet you, Hassan.” So far, so good, thought Adalynn. She peered around the other iguana curiously. “What are you doing?” she asked.
“I should be asking you the same thing.”
“I just had a bad day today. Whenever I have a day like this, I come here and calm myself down. My mom never gets worried because she thinks I’m a slow walker.”
“You walk home?”
“Yup. So what’s your excuse?”
“I got in trouble for drawing on the walls…in pencil, luckily. And now I have to scrub it off.”
What Adalynn did next surprised her, and Hassan, for that matter. She knelt down and grabbed the old yellow scrub brush out of the blue bucket of soapy water. Then she walked slowly over to the wall that Hassan had just been scrubbing and finished the job herself, cleaning the whole wall, even the places that didn’t have stick figures drawn all over it. When she was done, she looked back at Hassan, who was staring at her in awe. He had nothing to say, but “Thanks, Adalynn.”
“See you around?”
“Yup. Bye.”
“Bye.”
With those words, they were going their separate ways.
The next day, Adalynn decided that she was, in fact, making her first friend. Hassan would sometimes separate from his mob of friends to come and talk to Adalynn. Soon, they became amazing friends that were inseparable.
Many months passed and Christmas came around. The weather got so cold, it started snowing. Soon, all of the iguanas in the middle school were forced to wear the embarrassing sweaters that their mothers had given them the previous Christmas.
There were two things that Adalynn loved about wintertime. One was the fact that it brought about Christmas. Christmas made the world suddenly seem brighter to her. The second was winter break. Adalynn got two whole weeks to herself with a school free, teasing free, and pressure free environment.
On the last day, Friday, before winter break, Adalynn and Hassan were standing next to each other at the bus stop at the end of the day, talking about what their families were doing (or wanted to do) to celebrate Christmas.
“We were planning on going to someplace warmer, like Hawaii ,” explained Hassan, “but the weather got too cold for travel.”
“My family really wanted to travel to someplace warmer, but we had the same problem as you.” said Adalynn.
“Yeah, I can’t believe how cold it…” Hassan trailed off. He looked over Adalynn’s shoulder and saw a group of kids shouting and pushing a familiar boy toward the flagpole. Hassan knew who the iguana was; he just didn’t know their name.
Hassan felt someone come up behind him. He glanced behind him to see who it was. It was Adalynn.
“Who is that?” inquired Adalynn. “Do you know him?”
“Yeah, his name is…oh, now I remember. That’s Mark McHale. I used to hang out with him remember?”
“Oh. What happened?”
“Stuff.”
The two iguanas stood there, watching the ordeal. Finally, after only a few moments, Adalynn asked if they should go over and try to help Mark, who was being pushed against his will. Hassan was hesitant at first, but figured that if he helped Mark, the two could be friends again.
Hassan led Adalynn to a random student watching what was happening while whispering to her friends. He walked up to her and asked her what was happening. She told him that Mark was being forced to lick the flagpole, which was, unfortunately, covered in dry ice.
This is my chance, thought Adalynn, I could make another friend! I don’t even care if he is another boy. Feeling confident, Adalynn stepped boldly up to Mark and pulled him out of the middle of the crowd through the side. Mark took a few seconds for his brain to process what had happened, but when he did, he grabbed Adalynn by her shoulders and said excitedly, “Thank you!”
Adalynn suddenly got a warm, fuzzy feeling in her feet that spread throughout her whole body. She knew what it was--joy.
But her happiness didn’t last.
“Who’s that, McHale? Your girlfriend?” asked a deep, yet snotty voice. Mark let go of Adalynn and turned around, obviously annoyed with the owner of the voice. “No, Hunter, she’s not.” Mark answered. “But she pretty much just saved my life and my tongue right their.”
A whole commotion started about whether or not Adalynn was Mark’s girlfriend or not. Soon, Adalynn just couldn’t take it any longer. She stepped in between Mark and Hunter and shouted, “Stop it! Listen!” Luckily, she was loud enough to be heard. All heads turned toward her.
“Hey, Hunter! How many friends do you have?” Adalynn began.
“All of the people behind me, of course! Right, guys?” Hunter answered. None of the iguanas nodded or answered with a nod of the head.
Adalynn continued, “Exactly. Do you know why you don’t have any friends? Of course you don’t know. Well, I do. The reason you don’t have any is because nobody likes you. I’m sorry for being rude, but it’s true. No one likes you because you bully other iguanas. The only reason they were helping you was because they like to bully others, too. I bet they don’t have any friends, either, do you guys?” Silence. “Yup. Just what I thought. You like to bully, too, right? If you all don’t want to have friends, that’s fine with me. But I know from experience that having no friends doesn’t make you a very happy person. When Hassan became my friend, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. I hope that soon, you guys will have the same feeling that I did.” She let these words sink in before saying, “So everybody who wants to have friends, step forward.”
As soon as she was done speaking, over half of the bullies stepped forward, including all of the girls. Then, one by one, the rest of them stepped forward. Only one stayed where he was; and that was Hunter.
While everyone was socializing, waiting for the bus, Adalynn walked over to Hunter and asked the iguana why he hadn’t stepped forward.
“Because…I just didn’t want to believe that someone had finally stood up to me. ” he answered.
“Would you have stepped forward if you hadn’t?” Adalynn inquired.
Hunter nodded in response. “Then I guess you’re okay after all,” concluded Adalynn. I guess everyone learned something today, she thought as the bus pulled up to the side of the road.

And to Come....
A series of short stories! Back in Arizona, I was in a type of gifted class called ELP
(Enhanced Learning Program). Every month in fifth grade, we did projects on unique animals from all around the world. One of the parts of the project was that we had to write a story about that animal. Of course, they were usually fictional pieces because the animals talked and stuff like a fantasy world with unicorns that eat rainbows and poo butterflies, I know I know.
But anyway, over the next few weeks, I will post one of these animal stories every week. I have about...oops I forgot how many there are...about three or four...
Sorry I won't be posting one this week. I have to fine-tune them a little, because I didn't edit them completely the first time. Plus, I'm much older than I was then (what has it been, like, five months?), and I have many new words in my vocabulary, one of which is "garbleflink" (Hey, I never said they were all real! Also I got it from my mother so....yes.), which is a small, half pixie half troll sort of thing that sneaks into your bedroom at night and dominates your dresser drawers...BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
So, ya, be ready for the stories and such.
KYLA<3 the garbleflinks are watching you naughty children.

I Am Poem
I am a female preteen who finds her delight in writing and celebrates when others accomplish their objectives
I wonder if what the future has in keep for me is positive
I hear them cheering me on as I accomplish good deeds and build a positive future for myself
I see the sky turn bright colors as dawn sets in
I want peace in the world so I can enjoy every little moment in life
I am a female preteen who finds her delight in writing and celebrates when other accomplish their objectives.
I pretend that I know everyone around me, although I do not.
I feel the wet, cold, fresh grass as I run barefoot past the houses in a familiar neighborhood.
I touch the bark of the large willow tree with my hands and crunch leaves with my toes as I sit down.
I worry about the people I love and wonder how and what they are doing.
I cry because I do not know what to do.
I am a female preteen who finds her delight in writing and celebrates when others accomplish their objectives.
I understand that I am luckier than people in other countries
I say I am creative and a good friend
I dream of the world in peace, and no one fights, everyone is equal.
I try to be the best I can.
I hope others will like me for who I am and follow in my footsteps
I am a female preteen who finds her delight in writing and celebrates when others accomplish their objectives.
Hope you liked this unedited poem (oops I almost made that "peom") that I wrote in fourth grade as an assignment. Please comment or check one of the below (LOVE it!, sorta-kinda, or don't like it) to let me know how you feel!

Welcome to My Blog! (plus instructions for the fish...)
On this blog, I will be posting writing pieces that are too long to submit to writing magazines. They won't be posted as frequently as I would like, but hey, good work takes time! I will also post thoughts and the occasional surprise, which will be posted usually once a week, but sometimes not. I will usually do a pattern of a thought every other week, then a story all the other weeks. If you like this blog, please tell your friends about me and to tell their friends to tell their friends to tell their friends to tell their...uncles to tell science teachers to tell fake hobos...just kidding. Just tell your friends (Oops! I almost typed "firends." What kind of person would that be...?) to tell theirs and so on and on and on...
Thanks for your awesome support! Please follow this blog and subcribe to posts!! And if you want to learn more about me, read my profile, please! :-D

P.S. If you have absolutely no idea what the fish at the top of the screen are for, its just a cheesy yet cool interactive thingy-ma-jig that I put on my blog. The fish will follow your mouse and you can just click anywhere on the light blue screen to drop fish food there. You have a limited amount of food though, so do not be surprised if you can't feed them anymore. But after the fish eat more, your supply will be replenished, so just be patient and wait for them to finish. If you have more questions, put them in a comment.
